Job Opportunity - Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner - Arizona

Schedule: 8-hour days (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM) plus weeknight beeper call (3:00 PM - 7:00 AM), with rotating 24-hour call shifts. Typical monthly coverage includes 4 days of 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM shifts plus call coverage from 3:00 PM - 7:00 AM.
Highlights:
- Work alongside an experienced cardiothoracic surgeon providing comprehensive perioperative and ICU care
- Manage 10-15 CVICU/step-down patients daily, plus assist with 1-2 surgical procedures
- Perform specialized procedures including temporary pacemaker removal, chest tube removal, IABP removal, and A-line placement
- 199-bed facility utilizing Cerner EMR system
- Adult and geriatric patient population in a dedicated cardiothoracic surgery department
- Comprehensive orientation program beginning mid-August with progressive call responsibility
Requirements:
For Physician Assistants:
- Graduate from an NCCPA-approved university program
- Current or certification-eligible status with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Active Arizona Physician Assistant license or eligibility for Arizona licensure
- Minimum 3 years of cardiothoracic surgery experience with proficiency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- DEA registration required
For Nurse Practitioners:
- Master's Degree in Nursing
- Graduate from an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program
- Completion of an RN/NP First Assistant Program
- Current unrestricted Arizona APRN license
- Medical-Surgical or NP certification through ANCC or AANP
- Minimum 3 years of cardiothoracic surgery experience with proficiency in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting (EVH)
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- DEA registration required
Additional Requirements:
- COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Credentialing completion within 30 days
- Completion of mandatory remote Cerner training (approximately 4 hours) prior to start date
